Time with Gough Cat: I am about to celebrate my 10 year anniversary with the Gough CAT! After completing my apprenticeship with the army and then spending time with an agricultural machinery dealer in the Auckland & the BoP, I joined Gough Cat in Rotorua as a Parts & Service Sales Rep. In 2014 I was promoted to my current role and transferred to Head Office in Christchurch.
Why do you work for the Gough Cat? Working with a premium product – Caterpillar – has a strong pull, but I also want a company that can offer me a long career with opportunities to grow and learn. I have completed a number of courses through Cat University, have been lucky enough to attend training in Melbourne and Illinois, USA and I am currently studying towards a Havard ManageMentor. In my work I am surrounded by peers and managers who have had long careers with Gough Cat, so the depth of knowledge is immense. I also undertook a machine fleet assessment project for the company in Madagascar – that’s something you don’t get to do every day!
What’s great about living in Christchurch? We actually live just out of Christchurch, in a smaller community. My wife and children have settled in really quickly and made some great friendships which allows me the time to follow my other passions of motor biking and drag racing.
